Kanyanat Pathdee and Ray Johnson have relocated their food truck to South Salem.

Big Blue Thai BBQ, the food cart that took North Salem by storm at Silverton Road NE has pulled up stakes and relocated to South Salem.

Kanyanat Pathdee said the relocation was prompted by the need to find a new location because even though their former Northeast Salem met the proper city zoning requirements, the building that they leased to provide dining space was did not have the necessary permits to be used as a dining room.

The cart, owned by Pathdee and her husband and barbecue master Ray Johnson, has moved to the parking lot of a shopping center at 2679 Commercial St. SE, a block south from LifeSource Natural Foods.

The cart is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.- 9 p.m., and serves street food found in Thailand re-imagined as food-cart cuisine.

The couple said their following has grown and many of their original customers have followed them to their new location.
